Travel, Training and Other Events Grants
Temporarily closed for applications
UFAW is concerned with the welfare of farm, companion, laboratory, captive wild animals, and with free-living wild animals whose welfare is compromised by humans.
The UFAW Travel, Training and Other Events Grant is for applications to support non-research events, such as attending or organising, educational or scientific, meetings, lectures, courses or training visits; or for other small (non-research) events in support of UFAW’s objectives.
If you are seeking support to attend the UFAW 2026 Centenary conference, then please use the following application form: UFAW 2026 Centenary Conference Travel Grant
Applications for research funding of less than £5,000 should be made via the Small Research Grant Application and over £5,000 via the Large Research Grant Application.
For projects looking into the welfare of farmed animals during transport, at markets, or during slaughter, please consider applying for a grant from our sister charity, the Humane Slaughter Association (HSA) instead, as these are core areas for the HSA.
How to apply
Please visit our Frequently Asked Questions page and read carefully the terms & conditions, before submitting an application.

The UFAW Travel, Training and Other Events Grant is open worldwide, to all individuals/organisations.
Completed application forms are accepted throughout the year. However, please ensure that any request for funding is submitted at least two months before the event start date. Applications received outside of this timeframe will not be eligible for funding.
If you are applying for support to present your work at an event, please apply as early as you can – even before you know the outcome of your abstract. Should your UFAW application be successful, it would be conditional on your abstract being accepted for presentation, and no funding would be released until evidence of abstract acceptance had been provided.
Please note: animal welfare must be the main focus. We do not support events focused on e.g. conservation or the improvement of livestock yield.
